{"id":7292,"date":"2026-03-08T21:03:50","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T02:03:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/training\/?p=7292"},"modified":"2026-03-08T21:04:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T02:04:11","slug":"parashat-vayakhel-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/training\/parashat-vayakhel-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Parashat Vayakhel Podcast&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"sc-type-small\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3469 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hebrew4christians.com\/training\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/chag-aaron.jpg?resize=135%2C135&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"135\" height=\"135\" \/>According to tradition, Moses descended from Sinai (with the second set of tablets) on <a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Holidays\/Fall_Holidays\/Yom_Kippur\/yom_kippur.html\">Yom Kippur<\/a> (Tishri 10), and on the following morning he <em>assembled<\/em> (\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b7\u05e7\u05b0\u05d4\u05b5\u05dc) the people together to explain God\u2019s instructions regarding building the <a href=\"http:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Tetzaveh\/Mishkan\/mishkan.html\">Mishkan<\/a> (i.e., Tabernacle). First, however, Moses reminded the people to observe the <a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Holidays\/Shabbat\/shabbat.html\">Sabbath<\/a> as a day of rest, and then he asked for contributions of gold, silver, bronze, and other materials for the construction of the sanctuary and its furnishings. Each contribution was to be a \u201cfree-will offering\u201d (i.e., <em>nedivah zevach:<\/em> \u05e0\u05b0\u05d3\u05b8\u05d1\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d6\u05b6\u05d1\u05b7\u05d7) made by those \u201cwhose heart so moved him.\u201d As a sign of their complete teshuvah (repentance) for the <a href=\"http:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Ki_Tisa\/ki_tisa.html\">sin of the Golden Calf<\/a>, the people gave with such generosity that Moses finally had to ask them to stop giving!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Two men named &#8220;Betzalel&#8221; and &#8220;Oholiav&#8221; were appointed to be the chief artisans of the <a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Tetzaveh\/Mishkan\/mishkan.html\">Mishkan<\/a>, and they led a team of others that created the roof coverings, frame, wall panels, and foundation sockets for the tent. They also created the <a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Tetzaveh\/Mishkan\/mishkan.html\">parochet<\/a> (veil) that separated the Holy Place (<a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Tetzaveh\/Mishkan\/mishkan.html\">ha\u2019kodesh<\/a>) from the Holy of Holies (<a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Tetzaveh\/Mishkan\/mishkan.html\">kodesh ha\u2019kodeshim<\/a>). Both the roof and the veil were designed with embroidered cherubim (winged angelic beings). Betzalel then created the Ark of the Covenant and its cover called the mercy seat (<a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Tetzaveh\/Mishkan\/mishkan.html\">kapporet<\/a>), which was the sole object that would occupy the innermost chamber of the Holy of Holies. Betzalel also made the three sacred furnishings for the Holy Place \u2013 the Table of Bread (<a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Tetzaveh\/Mishkan\/mishkan.html\">shulchan<\/a>), the lamp (<a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Tetzaveh\/Mishkan\/mishkan.html\">menorah<\/a>), and the golden Altar of Incense (<a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Tetzaveh\/Mishkan\/mishkan.html\">mizbe\u2019ach ha\u2019katoret<\/a>) \u2013 as well as the anointing oil that would consecrate these furnishings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Betzalel then created the <a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Tetzaveh\/Mishkan\/mishkan.html\">Copper Altar<\/a> for burnt offerings (along with its implements) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Tetzaveh\/Mishkan\/mishkan.html\">Copper Basin<\/a> from the mirrors of women who ministered in the entrance of the tent of meeting.
