{"id":5711,"date":"2022-08-07T16:52:24","date_gmt":"2022-08-07T21:52:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/training\/?p=5711"},"modified":"2022-08-07T16:58:45","modified_gmt":"2022-08-07T21:58:45","slug":"the-gospel-in-few-words","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/training\/the-gospel-in-few-words\/","title":{"rendered":"Gospel in few words&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3461 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hebrew4christians.com\/training\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/yeshua-chagall-crown.gif?resize=183%2C196&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"183\" height=\"196\" \/><strong>CAN YOU EXPOUND THE<\/strong> essential meaning of the \u201cgospel\u201d (\u03b5\u1f50\u03b1\u03b3\u03b3\u1f73\u03bb\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd) in a single (and preferably short) sentence? \u00a0How about &#8220;Yeshua the Messiah came into the world to save sinners&#8221; (1 Tim 1:15), or perhaps, &#8220;For our sake he made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God&#8221; (2 Cor. 5:21)? Of course \u201cunpacking\u201d the meaning of these sentences is where things get more difficult, but a succinct expression of faith can often provide us with a starting point&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed&#8221; (\u05d5\u05bc\u05d1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b2\u05d1\u05bb\u05e8\u05b8\u05ea\u05d5\u05b9 \u05e0\u05b4\u05e8\u05b0\u05e4\u05bc\u05b8\u05d0\u05be\u05dc\u05b8\u05e0\u05d5\u05bc). &#8220;For in him all the fullness (\u03c0\u1fb6\u03bd \u03c4\u1f78 \u03c0\u03bb\u1f75\u03c1\u03c9\u03bc\u03b1) of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the message (\u03b5\u1f50\u03b1\u03b3\u03b3\u1f73\u03bb\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd) that you heard&#8221; (Col 1:19-23).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the Messiah also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous (\u03b4\u1f77\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c2 \u1f51\u03c0\u1f72\u03c1 \u1f00\u03b4\u1f77\u03ba\u03c9\u03bd), that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit&#8221; (1 Pet. 3:18). &#8220;And God is so rich in mercy (\u05de\u05b8\u05dc\u05b5\u05d0 \u05e8\u05b7\u05d7\u05b2\u05de\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd) and who loves us with such intense love (\u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05e8\u05d1 \u05d0\u05b7\u05d4\u05b2\u05d1\u05b8\u05ea\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d0\u05b2\u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05e8 \u05d0\u05b8\u05d4\u05b7\u05d1 \u05d0\u05ea\u05b8\u05e0\u05d5\u05bc), even when we were dead because of our acts of disobedience, he brought us to life along with the Messiah- it is by grace that you have been delivered (\u05d1\u05bc\u05b7\u05d7\u05b6\u05e1\u05b6\u05d3 \u05e0\u05d5\u05b9\u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05e2\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b6\u05dd). That is, God raised us up with the Messiah Yeshua and seated us with him in heaven, in order to exhibit in the ages to come how infinitely rich is his grace, how great is his kindness toward us who are united with the Messiah Yeshua. For you have been delivered by grace through trusting, and even this is not your accomplishment but God&#8217;s gift&#8221; (Eph. 2:4-8).<\/p>\n<p>And of course there is always the old \u201cstand by\u201d verse of John 3:16: <span style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;For God so loved the world that he gave his only and unique Son, <\/span>so that whoever trusts in Him should not be destroyed, but have eternal life&#8221; (John 3:16).<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few other simplified expressions of our faith (I am sure you can come up with some others, friends): \u201cHe has freed us from our sins by his blood\u201d (Rev. 1:5); &#8220;he that has the Son has life&#8221; (1 John 5:12); &#8220;Yeshua died for our sins, was buried, rose again on the third day, and forever reigns&#8221; (1 Cor. 15:3-4,25).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s push this approach a bit further.\u00a0 How about just <em>four<\/em> words?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Mercy triumphs over judgment&#8221; (James 2:13)<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Righteousness and peace kiss&#8221; (Psalm 85:10)<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Saved by his life&#8221; (Rom. 5:12)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cYou have been healed\u201d (1 Pet. 2:24)<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Name above all names&#8221; (Phil. 2:9)<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;In Him is life&#8221; (John 1:4)<\/li>\n<li>Angel of the LORD (\u05de\u05b7\u05dc\u05b0\u05d0\u05b7\u05da\u05b0 \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b8\u05d4)<\/li>\n<li>Branch of the LORD (\u05e6\u05b6\u05de\u05b7\u05d7 \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b8\u05d4)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><br \/>\nThree words?<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Yeshua loves me&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;God saves sinners&#8221; (Luke 19:10)<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;God is love&#8221; (1 John 4:16)<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;God is Light&#8221; (1 John 1:5)<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;It is finished&#8221; (John 19:30) &#8211; this can be one word: \u201ctetelestai!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;No other Name&#8221; (than Yeshua\/Jesus) &#8211; Acts 4:12<\/li>\n<li>Stone of Israel (\u05d0\u05b6\u05d1\u05b6\u05df \u05d9\u05b4\u05e9\u05c2\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0\u05b5\u05dc)<\/li>\n<li>Creator of Israel (\u05d1\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05e8\u05b5\u05d0 \u05d9\u05b4\u05e9\u05c2\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0\u05b5\u05dc)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Can we find just two words?<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Messiah Crucified&#8221; (\u05d4\u05de\u05bc\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u05b4\u05d9\u05d7\u05b7 \u05d4\u05b7\u05e0\u05bc\u05b4\u05e6\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05d1)<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Jesus Saves&#8221; (\u05d9\u05e9\u05d5\u05e2 \u05de\u05e6\u05d9\u05dc)<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;My help&#8221; (\u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05e2\u05b6\u05d6\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05ea\u05b4\u05d9)<\/li>\n<li>Everlasting Father (\u05d0\u05b2\u05d1\u05b4\u05d9\u05e2\u05b7\u05d3)<\/li>\n<li>Wonderful Counselor (\u05e4\u05bc\u05b6\u05dc\u05b6\u05d0 \u05d9\u05d5\u05b9\u05e2\u05b5\u05e5)<\/li>\n<li>Consuming Fire (\u05d0\u05b5\u05e9\u05c1 \u05d0\u05b9\u05db\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05d4)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Or how about just one word?<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>LORD (\u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05d4)<\/li>\n<li>Yah (\u05d9\u05b8\u05d4\u05bc)<\/li>\n<li>Amen (\u05d0\u05b8\u05de\u05b5\u05df)<\/li>\n<li>Chesed \/ love (\u05d7\u05b6\u05e1\u05b6\u05d3)<\/li>\n<li>Grace (\u05d7\u05b5\u05df)<\/li>\n<li>Abba (Father)<\/li>\n<li>Avi \/ Father (\u05d0\u05b2\u05d1\u05b4\u05d9)<\/li>\n<li>Ehyeh (I AM, \u05d0\u05b6\u05d4\u05b0\u05d9\u05b6\u05d4)<\/li>\n<li>Hakedoshim (\u05d4\u05b7\u05e7\u05bc\u05b3\u05d3\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd)<\/li>\n<li>Judge (\u05d4\u05b2\u05e9\u05c1\u05b9\u05e4\u05b5\u05d8)<\/li>\n<li>Healer (\u05d4\u05de\u05e8\u05e4\u05d0)<\/li>\n<li>Refuge (\u05de\u05b7\u05d7\u05b0\u05e1\u05b6\u05d4)<\/li>\n<li>Rock (\u05d4\u05b7\u05e6\u05bc\u05d5\u05bc\u05e8)<\/li>\n<li>Helper (\u05d4\u05b7\u05e2\u05d5\u05b9\u05d6\u05b5\u05e8)<\/li>\n<li>Lover (\u05de\u05b0\u05d0\u05b7\u05d4\u05b5\u05d1)<\/li>\n<li>Spirit (\u05d4\u05b8\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc\u05d7\u05b7)<\/li>\n<li>Truth (\u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05b1\u05de\u05b6\u05ea)<\/li>\n<li>Faithful (\u05d0\u05b5\u05de\u05d5\u05bc\u05df)<\/li>\n<li>Hope (\u05ea\u05b4\u05e7\u05d5\u05b8\u05d4)<\/li>\n<li>Beloved (\u05d0\u05b8\u05d4\u05d5\u05bc\u05d1)<\/li>\n<li>Friend (\u05d7\u05d1\u05e8)<\/li>\n<li>Salvation (\u05d9\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b8\u05d4)<\/li>\n<li>Deliverer (\u05de\u05d5\u05b9\u05e9\u05c1\u05b4\u05d9\u05e2\u05b7)<\/li>\n<li>Redeemer (\u05d2\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05d0\u05b5\u05dc)<\/li>\n<li>Mediator (\u05de\u05b0\u05ea\u05b7\u05d5\u05b5\u05da)<\/li>\n<li>Priest (\u05d4\u05b7\u05db\u05bc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b5\u05df)<\/li>\n<li>Messiah (\u05d4\u05b7\u05de\u05bc\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u05b4\u05d9\u05d7\u05b7)<\/li>\n<li>Moshia &#8211; Savior (\u05de\u05d5\u05b9\u05e9\u05c1\u05b4\u05d9\u05e2\u05b7)<\/li>\n<li>King (\u05d4\u05b7\u05de\u05bc\u05b6\u05dc\u05b6\u05da\u05b0)<\/li>\n<li>Wonderful (\u05e4\u05bc\u05b6\u05dc\u05b4\u05d0\u05d9)<\/li>\n<li>Jesus \/ Yeshua (\u05d9\u05b5\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b7) &#8211; the answer is found in Him<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Finally &#8211; dare I suggest it? &#8211; <em>how about no words at all?<\/em> To paraphrase Francis of Assisi, \u201cGo into all the world and preach the gospel &#8211; and sometimes use words.\u201d Of course words are important, but by themselves they are never enough, and very often they are unnecessary (James 2:18)&#8230; There is a language of love (\u201cthe works of love\u201d) that goes beyond any diction the tongue may express.
