This is \u201cthe\u201d central question of Passover, asked for thousands of years, and the answer is always the same: <em>Avadim Hayinu:<\/em> \u201cWe were slaves, but God redeemed us from bondage by the blood of the lamb (\u05d3\u05bc\u05b7\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c2\u05b6\u05d4).\u201d Note again that there were not many lambs, but the LORD told Israel: &#8220;You shall keep it [i.e., the Passover lamb] until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall slaughter him (\u05d0\u05ea) at twilight (Exod. 12:6).
