We respond to God with a heart of gratitude and love, not out of fear of punishment; with a whole heart (\u05db\u05bc\u05b8\u05dc\u05be\u05dc\u05b5\u05d1\u05b8\u05d1), not a heart divided by fear. The Torah says you are to love God <em>be&#8217;khol levavkha<\/em> (\u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05db\u05b8\u05dc\u05be\u05dc\u05b0\u05d1\u05b8\u05d1\u05b0\u05da\u05b8), \u201cwith all your heart\u201d \u2013 like Abraham, who loved God wholeheartedly; and you are to love God <em>be&#8217;khol nafshekha<\/em> (\u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05db\u05b8\u05dc\u05be\u05e0\u05b7\u05e4\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05da\u05b8), \u201cwith all your soul\u201d \u2013 like Isaac, who gave his soul over to God, willing to be sacrificed for our atonement; and you are to love God <em>be&#8217;khol me\u2019odekha<\/em> (\u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05db\u05b8\u05dc\u05be\u05de\u05b0\u05d0\u05d3\u05b6\u05da\u05b8), \u201cwith all your muchness\u201d \u2013 like Jacob who gave from his substance to support his children, the sons of Levi.
