If you \u201cpersevere in my word\u201d (\u03bc\u03b5\u1f77\u03bd\u03b7\u03c4\u03b5 \u1f10\u03bd \u03c4\u1ff7 \u03bb\u1f79\u03b3\u1ff3 \u03c4\u1ff7 \u1f10\u03bc\u1ff7) he said, \u201cthen you are my disciples indeed, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free\u201d (\u1f21 \u1f00\u03bb\u1f75\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1 \u1f10\u03bb\u03b5\u03c5\u03b8\u03b5\u03c1\u1f7d\u03c3\u03b5\u03b9 \u1f51\u03bc\u1fb6\u03c2, John 8:31-32). In other words, as we identify with his vision and redemptive mission, we will \u201cbe free indeed\u201d from the <em>tohu va\u2019vohu<\/em> (Gen. 1:2) \u2013 the \u201cchaos and unreality\u201d \u2013 that inescapably besets the way of the lie&#8230; We will be delivered from vanity and delusions of this world and its diseased affections; we will be set free from the need to justify ourselves by religion (perfectionism); we will no longer crave other people\u2019s approval; we will not be moved by the mass media and its pressures; we will find courage to face our challenges without resorting to escapism; and we will learn how to experience peace even when we encounter frustrations.<\/p>\n<p>Despite our daily struggles and tests, we set free from bondage to anger and resentment as we yield our will in trust that God is working all things together for our ultimate good (Rom. 8:28). Deception designed to manipulate others is gaslighting. We ask the LORD for the truth that sets us free, even from the calculated deceptions engineered by the workers of lawlessness and evil in this world.
