\"\"The Torah reveals that the very first \u201cpriest\u201d (i.e., kohen<\/em>: \u05db\u05bc\u05d4\u05b5\u05df) was neither a Jew nor a Levite nor a descendant of Aaron, but rather Someone who is said to have \u201cneither beginning of days nor end of life\u201d but is made like (\u1f00\u03c6\u03c9\u03bc\u03bf\u03b9\u03c9\u03bc\u1f73\u03bd\u03bf\u03c2) the Son of God, a priest continually (Heb. 7:3). This priest, of course, was Malki-Tzedek<\/em> (\u05de\u05b7\u05dc\u05b0\u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05be\u05e6\u05b6\u05d3\u05b6\u05e7), the King of Salem (\u05de\u05b6\u05dc\u05b6\u05da\u05b0 \u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u05dc\u05b5\u05dd) to whom Abraham offered tithes after his victory over the kings (Gen. 14:18). The author of the Book of Hebrews makes the point that the priesthood of Malki-Tzedek is greater than the Levitical priesthood and is therefore superior to the rites and services of the Tabernacle (Heb. 7:9-11). It was to Malki-Tzedek that Abram (and by extension, the Levitical system instituted by his descendant Moses) gave tithes and homage — and rightly so, since Yeshua is the great High Priest of the ultimate covenant based on God\u2019s eternal life (Heb. 8:6).<\/p>\n
