{"id":173,"date":"2020-07-30T08:09:18","date_gmt":"2020-07-30T08:09:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/training\/?p=173"},"modified":"2020-08-15T08:55:52","modified_gmt":"2020-08-15T08:55:52","slug":"parashat-vaetchanan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/training\/parashat-vaetchanan\/","title":{"rendered":"Vaetchanan Shavuah Tov Podcast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Parashah\/Summaries\/Vaetchanan\/vaetchanan.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-191 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hebrew4christians.com\/training\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/vaetchanan2.jpg?resize=150%2C125&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"125\" \/>Parashat Vaetchanan<\/a> (Deut 3:23-7:11) includes some of the most foundational texts of the Jewish Scriptures, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Torah\/Ten_Cmds\/ten_cmds.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ten Commandments<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Torah\/The_Shema\/the_shema.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shema<\/a> (the duty to love God and study His Torah), and the commandments of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hebrew4christians.com\/Blessings\/Daily_Blessings\/Donning_Tefillin\/donning_tefillin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tefillin<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hebrew4christians.com\/Blessings\/Special_Events\/Affixing_Mezuzah\/affixing_mezuzah.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mezuzot<\/a>. In addition, in this <a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Scripture\/Torah\/Weekly_Readings\/weekly_readings.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Torah portion<\/a> Moses predicts the worldwide exile and the eventual redemption of the Jewish people in <em>acharit hayamim<\/em> (the prophesied &#8220;End of Days&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>We always read this portion of the Torah on the Sabbath that follows <a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Holidays\/Summer_Holidays\/Tishah_B_Av\/tishah_b_av.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tishah B&#8217;Av<\/a>, called <em>Shabbat Nachamu<\/em> (\u05e9\u05d1\u05ea \u05e0\u05d7\u05de\u05d5), the &#8220;Sabbath of Comfort,&#8221; since the <a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Blessings\/Synagogue_Blessings\/Haftarah_Reading\/haftarah_reading.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">haftarah<\/a> speaks about God&#8217;s future consolation in the coming kingdom of God (&#8220;Comfort ye, comfort ye my people [Isa. 40:1]). With the advent of this special Sabbath, we have just seven weeks to prepare for the new year (i.e, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hebrew4christians.com\/Holidays\/Fall_Holidays\/Rosh_Hashannah\/rosh_hashannah.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yom Teruah<\/a>) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hebrew4christians.com\/Holidays\/Fall_Holidays\/Rosh_Hashannah\/Gospel\/gospel.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">High Holidays<\/a> &#8211; a \u201cjubilee\u201d season that heralds the return of Yeshua&#8230; In addition, on the 15th day of the month of Av we will celebrate <em>chag ha-ahavah<\/em> (\u05d7\u05b7\u05d2 \u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05b7\u05d4\u05b2\u05d1\u05b8\u05d4), or &#8220;the holiday of love.&#8221; Since it marks the &#8220;last&#8221; festival of the Jewish year, prophetically the 15th of Av (called <a href=\"https:\/\/hebrew4christians.com\/Holidays\/Summer_Holidays\/Tu_B_Av\/tu_b_av.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tu B\u2019Av<\/a>) pictures our marriage to the Lamb of God (Seh Elohim), the LORD Yeshua our beloved Messiah. On a soon-coming day those who belong to the LORD and are faithful to follow His ways will be blessed with the unspeakable joy of an eternally intimate relationship with Him.
