Where it says, \u201cServe the LORD with gladness\u201d (Psalm 100:2), the sages note that \u201cwith gladness\u201d (\u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05e9\u05c2\u05b4\u05de\u05b0\u05d7\u05b8\u05d4) contains the same letters as the word \u201cthought\u201d (\u05de\u05b7\u05d7\u05b2\u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u05d1\u05b8\u05d4), which suggests that happiness is found by thinking worthy thoughts. As the apostle admonished: \u201cThink on these things\u201d (Phil. 4:8). We find spiritual happiness when we choose to be thankful. This is called <em>hakarat tovah<\/em> (\u05d4\u05b7\u05db\u05bc\u05b8\u05e8\u05b7\u05ea \u05d8\u05d5\u05b9\u05d1\u05b8\u05d4), a phrase that means recognizing or being aware of the good. Cultivate a sense of wonder. Look at the sky often, for it is the &#8220;daily bread of the eyes.&#8221; Albert Einstein once said, \u201cThere are two ways to live your life; one is as though nothing is a miracle, and the other is as though everything is.\u201d Happiness is a choice, a decision to see the good, to open your eyes to wonder, and to turn away from negative, fearful visions.
