The spring festivals<\/a> (i.e., Passover<\/a>, Firstfruits<\/a>, and Shavuot<\/a>) have been perfectly fulfilled in the first coming of Yeshua as Mashiach ben Yosef<\/em>, and the fall festivals<\/a> (Teruah<\/a>, Yom Kippur<\/a>, and Sukkot<\/a>) will be fulfilled in His second coming as Mashiach ben David<\/em>. Since the first advent fulfilled all of the spring mo\u2019edim<\/em> <\/a>to the smallest of details, we believe that His second advent portends similar fulfillment as revealed in the fall mo\u2019edim.<\/p>\n

After the summer of harvest (John 4:35), the very first fall festival on the Jewish calendar is Yom Teruah<\/a> (\u05d9\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05ea\u05bc\u05b0\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b8\u05d4), which is a picture of the \u201ccatching away\u201d of kallat Mashiach<\/em> (the Bride of Messiah) for the time of Sheva Berachot<\/em> (the seven \u201cdays\u201d of blessing that follows the traditional marriage ceremony). Then will come the Great Tribulation and Yom Adonai – the Day of the LORD (\u05d9\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b8\u05d4). The heavenly shofar blasts heard at Sinai will be reissued from Zion. First will be the gathering together of those who follow the Messiah (i.e., those declared tzaddikim<\/em> because they trust in the merit of Yeshua\u2019s sacrifice), and then God\u2019s war against Satan and the world system will begin, culminating in the long-awaited coronation of the King of King of Kings – Melech Malchei Ha-Melachim<\/em> (\u05de\u05b6\u05dc\u05b6\u05da\u05b0 \u05de\u05b7\u05dc\u05b0\u05db\u05b5\u05d9 \u05d4\u05b7\u05de\u05bc\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05db\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd).<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Rosh Hashanah<\/a> (or better, Yom Teruah<\/a>) is therefore a sacred time that has prophetic significance for the Messianic believer, since it commemorates both the creation of the mankind by Adonai as well as the \u201ccalling up\u201d of the new creation at the behest of Yeshua, when the sound of the heavenly shofar inaugurates the anticipated End of Days (1 Cor. 15:51-54; 1 Thess. 4:15-18). Indeed, “teruah” (\u05ea\u05bc\u05b0\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b8\u05d4) is a “calling up” signal for those who belong to Messiah, sounded during the opening of the \u201cGate to the Wedding\u201d of the great Lamb of God. It also prefigures the coming Day of the LORD and Great Tribulation period that marks God\u2019s judgment on an unbelieving world…<\/p>\n

In this connection note that Kierkegaard foresaw the apostasy of our age when he wrote: \u201cA fire broke out backstage in a theater. The clown came out to warn the public; they thought it was a joke and applauded. He repeated it; the acclaim was even greater. .. that’s just how the world will come to an end: to general applause from wits who believe it’s a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n
