Socrates to Sartre and Beyond: A History of Philosophy by Samuel Enoch Stumpf. A comprehensive, historically organized introduction to Western philosophy. Perhaps the best single-volume on the subject. |

A History of Western Philosophy: by W. T. Jones and Robert J. Fogelin. This is part of a five volume set, each of which is excellent. It is more thorough than Stumpf’s book, but more expensive, unless you can find the series used. |

History of Philosophy by Frederick Copleston. Conceived originally as a presentation of the development of philosophy for Catholic seminary students, Copleston's nine-volume set has journeyed far beyond the modest purpose of its author to universal acclaim as the best history of philosophy in English. |

Philosophical Foundations for a Christian Worldview by J. P. Moreland and William Lane Craig. In Philosophical Foundations for a Christian Worldview J.P. Moreland and William Lane Craig offer a comprehensive introduction to philosophy from a Christian perspective. |

Introduction to Philosophy by Norm Geisler and Paul Feinberg. Well-organized presentations of most of the significant philosophical positions make this book an excellent reference tool. |

Life’s Ultimate Questions by Ronald Nash. By synthesizing three distinct approaches—topical, historical, and worldview/conceptual systems—it affords students a breadth and depth of perspective previously unavailable in standard introductory texts. |

A Concise Introduction to Logic by Patrick Hurley. Unsurpassed for its clarity, conciseness, and comprehensiveness, Hurley's market-leading book has established itself as the standard for introductory logic classes. |

Socratic Logic by Peter Kreeft. This is the only complete system of classical Aristotelian logic in print (though Hurley’s book covers traditional logic in good detail). Dr. Kreeft is a Catholic apologist heavily indebted to St Thomas Aquinas. |

Apologetics concerns itself with the defense of the Christian faith and its worldview commitments. Some of the books listed below concern defending the faith from Jewish “anti-missionaries” who contend that Yeshua is not the Messiah of Israel; others concern more traditional Christian apologetical approaches.

An Introduction to Christian Apologetics by Edward J. Carnell. Deals with 14 major subject including; The Problem of Truth, What Is Faith?, The Problem of Evil, etc. Carnell's insights into the classical problems of theology and philosophy remain incisive and refreshing. |

Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus, Vol. 1: General and Historical Objections by Dr. Michael Brown. Offers well-researched, thoughtful, biblical responses to difficult questions that arise when Christians share Yeshua (Jesus) with Jews. Note there are 4 volumes to Dr. Brown’s series. |

What the Rabbis Know About Messiah by Rachmiel Frydland. Moshe Alshekh, a 16th-century rabbi, summed it up best when he said, "Our rabbis with one voice, accept and affirm the opinion that the prophet (Isaiah 53) is speaking of King Messiah." |

The Messiah Texts by Raphael Patai. The most comprehensive compilation of Jewish texts about the Messiah in English. Chapters cover such things as pre-existent names of the Messiah, prophecies, apocalyptic writings, birth of the Messiah, stages of the Great Redemption, Last Judgement, Resurrection, dreams and visions of the future world, etc. |

Provocations: Spiritual Writings of Kierkegaard by Soren Kierkegaard (Author), Charles E. Moore (Editor). Perhaps the most accessible presentation of the wonderful thinking of Soren Kierkegaard available in English. Highly recommended! |
