I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. - Psalm 16:7

avareikh et-Adonai asher ye‘atzani, af-leilot yisseruni khilyotai.

Grammatical Notes:

  • אֲבָרֵךְ (avareikh) is the (1 pers sing) Piel imperfect form of בּרךְ (to bless, kneel), from berekh, meaning knee: I will bless.
  • יְעָצָנִי (ye’atzani) is the Qal perfect 3rd person masculine singular of יָעַץ (to advise) with the 1st person common singular suffix: (has) advised me.
  • יִסְּרוּנִי (yiseruni) is the Piel perfect 3rd person common plural of יָסַר (to discipline, chasten, instruct) with the 1st person common singular suffix: (it) disciplines me.
